What’s the Difference Between Door to Door, Door to Port, and Port to Port?
JUN 22, 2025
Many people who have used shipping services may have come across the terms Door to Door, Door to Port, or Port to Port and might be wondering what they mean and how they differ. CPLINTER is here to clear up the confusion!
Door to Door
This service offers the most convenience for the recipient. The company takes care of everything, from picking up the goods right from the sender's doorstep in the origin country, handling the documentation, managing customs procedures (both import and export), and delivering the goods directly to the recipient's doorstep in the destination country.
Door to Port
This service is similar to Door to Door, but instead of delivering the goods to the recipient's doorstep, the company will deliver them to a port, airport, or warehouse in the destination country. The recipient must then pick up the goods from the port themselves and pay any additional fees when retrieving the goods, including handling their own customs clearance.
Port to Port
This service involves picking up the goods from a port or airport in the origin country and delivering them to the port or airport in the destination country. The sender is responsible for transporting the goods to the port, and the recipient must take care of receiving and transporting the goods themselves.
So, all three shipping methods have clear differences in terms of convenience and responsibility. Choosing the right method depends on what best suits your needs and provides the most value.
